A July 4th episode where she finds her voice — yes, that sounds dangerously close to a cliche. But six episodes deep with this filmmaker, I trust the swerve more than the setup.
A holiday episode refusing the fireworks-as-metaphor crescendo is exactly the disciplined hangout-naturalism the project wants. Hard to evaluate without the surrounding episodes, but the restraint registers.
Fourth of July hangout that finds the voice without using fireworks as a metaphor — that restraint is the entire reason to watch the series. Hangout naturalism with interior gaze.
