A premise so aggressively dumb it loops back to being genuinely interesting—using activist performance as the vehicle for petty sexual revenge is the kind of thing that should fail catastrophically, but Camarero leans into the contradiction hard enough that it becomes something sharp about male ego disguised as ideology.
The satire strains against its own premise without quite finding the formal clarity it needs; the film gestures toward meaningful commentary on performative activism and gendered violence, but the execution feels more provocation than considered argument.
The film's best choice is its deadpan commitment to Figueroa's delusional self-righteousness—never winking at the audience, never softening the grotesqueness of the central character—which forces viewers to sit with genuine discomfort rather than letting them off the hook with ironic distance.
