The scouts
A love story where the man's socks literally stage a coup against domesticity — it's anarchist hosiery versus the tyranny of commitment, and Čopíková treats the rebellion with total deadpan sincerity. Everyone else would've made this saccharine; Felix loves that she made it weird.
The film's restraint is its formal achievement: Čopíková animates surrealism without spectacle, letting the sock uprising sit uncomfortably against a tender domestic narrative, which places her in conversation with Eastern European animation traditions that prize psychological texture over visual excess.
The single choice that makes this work is the decision to animate the socks as a genuinely menacing collective rather than cute comic relief — that tonal commitment, born from what was probably a constraint of the budget, transforms a gimmick into something genuinely unsettling about desire and control.
Reviews
Allégorie originale de la vie à deux, le film raconte à la manière d'une fable moderne, les difficultés de continuer à s'aimer au jour le jour, années après années. Loin de répondre aux questions, Čopíková soulève la problématique avec simplicité et fantaisie.
