It's a Bollywood-adjacent wish-fulfillment fantasy dressed up in social-issue drag—IAS officer, intercaste romance, both families won over—the kind of consensus crowd-pleaser that makes me wonder if the filmmakers actually believe their own premise or just wanted the applause.
The film situates itself earnestly in the tradition of Indian social-realist drama and romantic cinema, though it plays both registers somewhat conventionally; there's craft here in the intercutting of village and city, but it doesn't quite achieve the formal rigor or tonal complexity that would elevate it beyond sincere statement.
What arrests you is the decision to let silence and stillness carry the emotional weight—there's a restraint in how Chauhan and Bhondekar hold on the girl's face during moments of doubt that refuses easy sentiment and makes the small victories of education and acceptance feel earned rather than granted.
