As nations race to space, one recruited chimpanzee's progress in the Space Program may prove influential for all mankind.

The scouts
A chimp in the space race as a proxy for human ambition—it's the kind of premise that sounds ridiculous until you realize it's not, and by then the film's already punctured every sacred cow in sight with whimsy as its weapon. This is subversion wearing a smile, which is exactly when it's most dangerous.
The film's lineage runs through Cold War satire and mid-century animation traditions, executing its conceptual conceit with formal restraint and a deadpan visual vocabulary that recalls UPA without ever genuflecting to it. The restraint is the thing—a lesser film would oversell the absurdity; this one lets the premise do the work.
The decision to play it completely straight—to animate a chimpanzee's bureaucratic ascent through the space hierarchy with zero winking—is what transforms a clever idea into something that actually *lands*; everything else serves that tonal commitment without ever breaking it.
