Tones: dark, provocative, tense
Hugo, a boarding-school educator, sees his fragile equilibrium undone by Jules, a provocative teenager whose games of seduction and defiance draw the two into an increasingly uncontrollable relationship.

Everyone's going to call this a scandal-piece about forbidden desire, but Dufeys actually refuses the moral clarity that makes those narratives comfortable — he's doing something weirder and more corrosive with the power dynamics, and it refuses to let you settle into judgment.
A formally precise chamber study in psychological unraveling; Dufeys inherits the European tradition of restraint-as-intensity, using spatial framing and conversation rhythm to map a collapse that never announces itself — the kind of controlled provocation that rewards close attention.
The entire film lives in Dufeys's decision to keep the camera still and let the seduction play as dialogue and proximity — one unbroken take sensitivity that makes every small gesture of approach or withdrawal feel inevitable and dangerous.
Reviews
