A serpent goddess tempts a woman into drowning.

Three minutes of a woman getting seduced into her own death should feel like pulp, but Alameda refuses the easy horror beat—there's real mythic weight here, which is exactly the kind of constraint-as-strength move that makes me suspicious it's actually brilliant.
Bakunawa understands its place in a centuries-long tradition of serpent-goddess iconography and temptation narratives, executed with the formal restraint and tonal control of someone who knows exactly which registers—sensual, dark, mythic—need to coexist without collapsing into camp.
The sensuality is the whole film: every frame seems to hinge on the decision to let the seduction breathe rather than rush toward the horror, which in three minutes means choosing patience over spectacle, and that choice is what makes the drowning actually land.
