Everyone expects this premise to be an after-school-special sermon, but Wild just... lets the moment breathe—no moral posturing, no rescue narrative. It's radical restraint dressed up as documentary.
A formally precise observation of harm reduction in practice, situated squarely within the direct cinema tradition yet resisting its usual voyeurism; the restraint itself becomes the ethical argument.
The decision to hold on the nurse's face—that quiet competence, zero judgment—while the text of what's happening lands separately transforms what could've been exploitative into something actually tender and instructive.
