The scouts
A wedding-day reckoning dressed up as family drama—so formally restrained it almost feels like a provocation, which means Ruiz de Somavía might actually be onto something, or he might just be boring us into complicity.
The precision of its constraint—three minutes, one location, the pressure valve of confession—recalls the taut chamber pieces of Koreeda and early Haneke, though whether it earns that lineage or simply borrows its aesthetic discipline remains the question.
The entire film pivots on a single choice: how long to hold silence before someone breaks, and Ruiz de Somavía stretches that threshold just past comfort, letting the sound design (or absence of it) do the emotional work that dialogue won't.
