The scouts
The setup screams Hallmark-intervention-thriller, but Guemra refuses the save—instead he traps us in the cab's suffocating moral paralysis, where good intentions become their own kind of cage, which is genuinely perverse.
A formally disciplined chamber piece that inherits from the Dardenne lineage of intimate social realism; the restraint in how it frames complicity and witness—never overselling either character's interior life—recalls a tradition skeptical of easy heroism.
The film's entire weight lives in Jalil's eyes and the deliberate silence between his observations—one performer holding the tension of wanting to act without becoming the savior narrative the genre wants, and that restraint is the whole film.
