A man repeats an ancient gesture, cutting stone without knowing what it will become; years later, the same gesture finds an unexpected echo, and across time a work is built by hands that will never meet.

The scouts
Everyone's going to call this meditative and precious, but Ardissan's actually doing something weirder—collapsing the distance between artisanal labor and conceptual art in a way that pisses on both camps equally, and I'm here for it.
A formally austere essay that understands its lineage (Bresson's manual repetition, the structural cinema of durational gesture) while earning its mythic register through precise editing choices that let time itself become the subject.
The decision to keep the stone-cutter's face obscured until the reveal—that single withholding of recognition—transforms what could be sentimental into something genuinely uncanny and human.
