Texier is working with one of indie music's most demanding visual collaborators — Xiu Xiu's aesthetic standards are uncompromising — and the strobing approach suggests he's meeting the band on their terms rather than softening the material.
Couldn't load it; metadata is a strobe-warning music video for a track I respect. Provisional credit only — flicker as expression is fine, but I need to actually see it.
Florent Texier directing for Xiu Xiu with an explicit strobing warning means the flicker is structural, mirroring Jamie Stewart's use of sonic distress as expressive material — exactly the right collaboration for Angel Guts: Red Classroom.
