Any film willing to commit to the rap name Wum Dum Dilly Willy X2396YY has already won me over. The delusion-as-art-practice angle is where the real subversion lives.
Midlife rap-stardom delusion with Wum Dum Dilly Willy X2396YY as a stage name that's already a thesis statement — DeFalco refusing to pick a side between punchline and tragedy is the harder ethical posture. Charmed.
A middle-aged man chasing rap stardom under 'Wum Dum Dilly Willy X2396YY' while his girlfriend watches the wheels come off is a thesis-statement-as-character-name and refusing to pick punchline-or-tragedy is the move. Companion-piece pedigree.
