Cannes 2010 selection, NFTS production, voice cast of David Morrissey and Stephen Mangan. A walrus, a seal, and a lobster in an Arctic sauna — that's the entire pitch and a hell of an animation school exercise. Probably charming, probably slight.
Cannes-selected NFTS comedy with Stephen Mangan voicing a lovelorn walrus — the deliberate 2D-on-3D mismatch is the joke's delivery system, and David Morrissey as a lobster is exactly the cast you didn't know you needed.
Blank's graduation film earns its Cannes slot through pure craft commitment — the deliberate mismatch between 2D character animation and 3D arctic environments is a first-time director betting everything on a single risky aesthetic choice.
