Thornton's doing the obvious comparison thing—old ways vs. new tech—but he somehow makes it feel like an actual provocation instead of a TED talk, which is almost impressive enough to forgive the premise.
A formally precise essay film that understands its lineage in structural documentary and Indigenous media sovereignty; the brevity and compositional restraint feel earned, not expedient.
Three minutes, and Thornton commits entirely to letting sound design do the philosophical work—the decision to let silence and voice breathe instead of narrate over imagery is what makes this land.
