In any night bar, through the comings and goings of men, women and children, a waiter hears countless times the phrase 'cuando puedas' ('when you can') as customers request his services behind the bar.

A seven-minute loop of 'when you can' shouldn't work—it's patient to the point of perverse—but Sojo's refusal to dramatize or resolve anything is exactly the kind of deadpan conceptual commitment that makes most festival programmers squirm, which means it's probably essential.

Cuando puedas sits in a rigorous lineage of durational and repetition-based cinema, where the formal constraint (the phrase, the setting, the service routine) becomes the entire aesthetic argument; the measured accumulation of voices and moments builds a meditation on labor and invisibility that feels both formally deliberate and humanely considered.

The genius move here is trusting the off-screen space—we hear 'cuando puedas' constantly but never see most of the speakers, which forces the waiter (and us) into an acoustic portrait of a bar's invisible social texture; that single formal decision transforms what could have been tedious into something genuinely unsettling.
