A Christmas lottery ad from Amenábar playing it completely straight with starlight-meets-Madrid whimsy—there's nothing here that bends the premise or goes sideways, just a competent piece of sentiment doing exactly what it was hired to do, which is precisely why I'm not touching it.
Amenábar's command of tonal register is surgical; he threads whimsy and genuine melancholy through a commercial form without letting the machinery show, situating this modest piece within a lineage of Spanish magical-realism advertising that respects both its audience and its constraints.
The choice to keep the alien visitor largely in silhouette and shadow, letting Daniel's wonder do all the emotional work rather than revealing anything conventionally otherworldly, is the decision that makes this four-minute piece feel earned instead of saccharine.
