A filmmaker issues an insincere apology for deepfaking her brother-in-law in her documentary. The irony layering is infinite and the tirades reportedly earn their runtime.
Bundy and Rose's narcissistic-deepfake-apology-two-hander is exactly the timely-but-precise satire that earns its 2020s setting — a tight chamber piece is the right form for the joke.
The film itself structured as the apology video with the deepfake drama playing out through an increasingly unhinged staged confession — Nathan-For-You energy applied to documentary ethics, two-hander backyard escalation with blackmail attempts.
