The scouts
It's a perfectly composed grief poem about friendship, which means it's exactly the kind of sensitive-soul material everyone else will fight over while I'm watching something that breaks its own rules—pass.
Juanola's restraint in allowing silence and spatial distance to do the emotional work shows real formal discipline; this is the kind of film that understands how European art cinema processes loss through duration and negative space.
The decision to keep the two leads' reunion almost entirely physical—the long shots, the careful choreography of proximity and withdrawal—does more to articulate unresolved history than dialogue ever could on a modest budget.
