A lonely gravedigger who prides himself on his craft feels invisible at the cemetery where he works. When a stranger seeks him out for his special talents, he finally gets recognition, and a new understanding of what his work means.

It's competent melancholy-adjacent cinema that everyone will nod along to, but there's nothing here that makes me say 'wait, WHAT?' — the gravedigger-finds-meaning arc is exactly the arc you'd expect, executed exactly as expected.
Seger demonstrates formal restraint and a genuine feeling for the elegiac tradition of the working-person drama; the film knows its lineage and honors it with considered pacing and a refusal to sentimentalize the labor itself.
The real move here is how Seger lets the stranger's arrival stay almost completely unmotivated and strange—that refusal to explain the recognition or neat up the relationship is the specific choice that keeps this from being a greeting-card redemption story.
