The scouts
It's a disease-of-the-week drama that knows exactly what it is, which is almost respectable—but it never once makes you uncomfortable or question why you're watching two people lose each other in real time, and that feels like a missed opportunity for actual subversion.
Nadal locates the film's formal rigor in the space between what the mother can no longer hold and what the daughter is still becoming—the editing sustains this doubled temporality with real precision, and the restraint pays off as something genuinely moving rather than sentimental.
The decision to let the camera stay close and still while the performances do the erosion—no manipulative score swells, no montage shorthand—means everything lands on what these actors choose to show in their faces, and that economy of gesture is what makes sixteen minutes feel complete.
