The scouts

Von Horn could've gone full provocation here—made us squirm with the re-enactment as spectacle—but instead he's playing it procedural and safe, letting the restorative justice framework do the moral heavy lifting instead of actually *interrogating* it.

A rigorous formal study in restraint and social ritual: the film's architecture—moving from crime re-staging to family confrontation—deliberately echoes the Scandinavian pedagogical cinema tradition while interrogating whether dialogue can ever truly repair what violence has broken.

The real choice here is the sound design during the re-enactment itself—the way ambient noise drops and only footsteps and breath remain—which suddenly makes the boys' bodies the subject instead of their words, collapsing the distance between performance and confession.

Reviews
