A young drag queen about to perform on stage for the first time cannot find her artistic flair or the makeup that fits who she wants to be; she realises that drag is not only a question of beauty, but of the will to be what one wishes.

Everyone expects a drag film to be about sequins and swagger, so it's genuinely refreshing when Koliane pivots to something quieter—the internal crisis of becoming, not the spectacle of arrival. Still, the premise feels a touch earnest for my taste; I'd have pushed harder into weirdness.
There's a careful restraint here that sits in dialogue with the ballroom documentary tradition, trading exterior polish for interior vulnerability—the formal choice to keep us in that cramped backstage moment rather than releasing to the stage itself feels deliberate and earned.
That final cut away from the mirror before she steps on stage—the decision to *not* show us her fully formed self—does all the thematic work; it's a two-minute film that trusts a single spatial and temporal choice to carry the entire weight of self-actualization.
