Magnolia, a lonely office worker trapped in a monotonous routine and unable to relate to anyone, turns thirty and realizes that nobody notices her existence; driven to despair, she attempts to end her life, and her failed attempt awakens two voices in her head.

The two-voices-in-her-head device feels like it's been done to death in prestige TV, but Zapata's willingness to play it as dark comedy instead of tortured-soul theater is genuinely perverse—most filmmakers would genuflect to the gravity of the premise, and he just... doesn't.
A formally disciplined study in the grammar of alienation and invisible labor, where the suicidal ideation becomes the formal engine rather than the subject itself; the restraint in not over-scoring or over-performing the inner voices shows real compositional confidence.
In three minutes, the decision to make those two voices bicker rather than console—to let them interrupt and undercut each other instead of offering false comfort—transforms what could've been another loneliness narrative into something that actually breathes and surprises.
