A 3D animated Adult Swim pilot about retirement-community boredom directed by Conner O'Malley — the premise alone makes me want to flip a table in delight.
O'Malley's hyper-specific dread translated into 3D-animated retirement-community fluorescence — it's a confident extension of the Joe Pera / Smiling Friends Adult Swim lineage with a clear aesthetic stamp. Whether the geriatric-mundanity engine sustains beyond pilot length is the open question; as a calling card it's gleefully odd.
Conner O'Malley brings his live-action improv dread into 3D animation about retirement-community mundanity — the geriatric subject is a sharp comedic choice for an Adult Swim pilot. The team alone makes it worth 20 minutes.
