Genres: drama, sci-fi, thriller

Tones: contemplative, melancholic, mythic

An unknown virus has destroyed practically the entire human population; the few survivors, unaware of the true nature of the disease, try to escape in a flotilla of boats in search of uninhabited, uncontaminated lands, and in their exodus will find some surprises.

The scouts

Post-apocalypse-by-flotilla is surface-level disaster porn, but Jonkajtys refuses catharsis or even clarity—the 'surprises' stay ambiguous, the survivors stay trapped in mythic dread rather than plot mechanics. It's the kind of ending that makes people uncomfortable because it doesn't resolve into meaning.

Felix

A formally austere meditation on exodus and contamination that sits comfortably in the lineage of Tarkovsky and Bresson—the composition is rigorously geometric, the pacing liturgical, and the film trusts the weight of silence and image to carry what dialogue cannot. This is craft in service of philosophical inquiry.

The real move here is the sound design: Jonkajtys strips the landscape nearly bare of score and lets the mechanical dread of the boats—engines, water, creaking metal—become the emotional register, which on an 8-minute budget and without star power transforms restraint into inevitability.
