Invasion-in-the-suburbs is a played-out premise, but if Manetti's doing something genuinely perverse with the "not alone" angle — some twist on what that presence actually means — then maybe there's teeth here; most directors would just make a jump-scare factory.
Three minutes is a brutalist constraint for sci-fi horror, and the craft question becomes whether Manetti can establish spatial and tonal coherence in that frame — whether the destroyed bedroom reads as *designed* rather than just trashed.
A 3-minute invasion film lives or dies on one committed choice — whether it's the sound design that makes the "not alone" threat tactile, or a single reaction shot that recontextualizes the entire waking moment, Manetti's micro-scale demands precision most debut filmmakers don't yet have.
Reviews
ESCAPE is a visceral masterclass in "gimmick" tension and high-stakes survival. A sharp, relentless piece of sci-fi horror that keeps you holding your breath until the very last frame.
