Heavenly Kingdom hospital comedy with a dragon child feels like it's playing it safe in the whimsy department — cute premise, competent execution, but I'm not seeing the subversive angle that would make me actually care.
Cao's short demonstrates controlled character animation and a clear narrative arc rooted in slapstick tradition, though the celestial setting and tonal whimsy don't quite elevate it beyond a well-assembled genre exercise.
The genius move here is making the nurse's small negligence the engine of the entire story—that single consequential mistake, and the ticking clock it creates, transforms what could've been saccharine into something genuinely propulsive and emotionally grounded.
