Everyone expects the disability doc to be inspirational dreck, so of course Krahn and Fischer just... let these people be funny and competitive and bored sometimes—the subversion is in the refusal to sentimentalize, which is almost radical in this space.
A formally modest film that understands the grammar of sports documentary—the incremental build, the bracket-style editing, the way victory is framed—while working within tight constraints that demand clarity over flourish.
The real move is shooting the lanes from the bowlers' perspectives and letting the audio design carry the spatial information; suddenly you're not watching *about* blindness, you're watching *with* them, and that single production choice rewires the entire ethical center of the film.

Friday Night Blind is the warm, quirky, inspiring story of three visually impaired bowling friends and the way they roll.
