A plucky kid-versus-rival setup that's been done to death, dressed up in whimsy but fundamentally playing it safe—Peri's got the animation chops but seems more interested in charming than subverting the coming-of-age formula.
Competent animation within a familiar lineage of educational children's shorts, though it doesn't quite locate the formal precision or thematic depth that would elevate it beyond serviceable craft.
There's something in how Peri uses the museum setting itself—the pacing between Frond's wonder and the antagonistic showdown—that suggests a specific editorial instinct about how fast to cut between earnestness and comedy, and that's what makes this work despite its simple premise.
