Tones: absurdist, darkly comic, tender
Two tortured men spend a day taking care of each other, Lewis Pullman returning home to find his roommate Kyle Chase mid-existential panic, their male friendship tested by extreme behavior and deep-seated crisis. A darkly comedic portrait of what men do instead of asking for help.

Lewis Pullman in a short called Guzzle Buddies about two men taking care of each other's crises. The title alone is doing something — tender and stupid in the exact right ratio.
Lewis Pullman and Kyle Chase as two tortured men caring for each other is the male-friendship-as-mutual-rescue mode that Kelly Reichardt does in features — at shorts length it's mostly a performance vehicle, and that can be enough.
Lewis Pullman with completely unglamorous commitment — the film doesn't play the existential-panic crisis for laughs so much as find the absurdity inside sincere care. Cold-shower, freestyle-on-the-roof, 'sippy sippy' is the texture I trust.
