Sentient dim sum doing kung fu on the Hong Kong outskirts should be ridiculous, but Lee commits to the bit so hard it almost feels subversive—except it's just... fun, which is the one thing a contrarian can't forgive.
A playful homage to both Hong Kong action cinema and stop-motion tradition, though the theatrical tone risks sacrificing the formal precision that would elevate it beyond pastiche.
The decision to animate food with genuine martial arts choreography—treating dumplings with the physical specificity usually reserved for human characters—is what transforms a premise into something that actually works, frame by frame.
