A disconnected suburban couple — she sexting a stranger over dinner, he attempting suicide in a bath of Christmas lights — are forced together when both plans go awry.

Finally—a film that plants two catastrophes in the same room and lets them detonate sideways instead of dramatically. Warnock's refusal to let either character's suicide attempt become the emotional anchor is exactly the kind of perverse restraint that makes critics furious and Felix vindicated.
The film's formal architecture—how carefully it balances the domestic mundane against the grotesque (Christmas lights as scaffold)—recalls a lineage of suburban subversion from Weir through Haneke, though Warnock's tonal control occasionally sacrifices emotional weight for conceptual cleverness.
That the entire film pivots on the decision to shoot the bathtub attempt not as spectacle but as an ambient detail, almost wallpaper, in the background of their reconnection—that single compositional choice is what transforms what could've been a gimmick into something genuinely unsettling and human.
