The gravedigger-and-ghost meet-cute is basically a greeting card premise, but if Estella and Fandos are actually using it to interrogate something darker about solitude or mortality, I'm curious—just wish the whimsy didn't feel like the safety net.
A quietly composed meditation on presence and absence that trusts its own formal restraint; the tender pacing and contemplative framing place it in conversation with European folk-tale cinema, and the restraint of the encounter itself is what gives it weight.
The choice to play the gravedigger's contentment as genuine—not lonely, not tragic, just *happy*—reframes the entire story and makes the supernatural intrusion matter; that tonal commitment on a modest budget is what makes this sing.
