The scouts
A home invasion film where the tension is entirely about which Halloween mask best captures your inner self — genre deconstruction via costume drama.
Refocusing the home-invasion thriller entirely on the invaders' pre-invasion identity-crisis mask debate is a clean tonal redirect — six minutes is the right runtime for a single comic engine. Tucker and Dale / You're Next is the right neighborhood.
Six minutes of two would-be invaders relitigating their mask choices before the break-in — pure character through procedural debate. The genre inversion is exactly the right idea for the runtime.
Reviews
Invaders is a darkly hilarious subversion of the home invasion genre — funny, gory, and utterly committed to its absurd premise.
