Cute aliens vs. cute bunnies sounds like the kind of pitch that makes me want to walk out of the room, but Darnell's committed to the absurdist bit hard enough that the predictability becomes almost defiant—there's something weirdly anti-comedy about playing the bumbling-invader premise this straight.
A cleanly executed riff on the underdog formula, with the formal constraints of animation discipline showing through every frame; the lineage is Disney slapstick by way of contemporary CGI comedy, competently situated and executed with modest ambition.
The real move here is how Darnell trusts the dead-pan delivery of the alien characters' overwrought plans against the silent, physical comedy of the bunnies—that tonal asymmetry, and the sound design choices that let it breathe, is what makes 6 minutes of premise-as-joke actually land.
