A geek must choose his best hardware 'companion', and his application and his doubts carry him into an extreme madness.

The scouts
A two-minute descent into hardware fetishism that flips the choose-your-companion trope into something genuinely unhinged—the fact that it treats a man's relationship with his tech as a gateway to 'extreme madness' is exactly the kind of premise everyone else would sand down, and Jahivre just leans harder into the absurdity.
Cholvin's economy of form is precise, but the film's tonal instability—careening between dark comedy and thriller without anchoring itself in a clear lineage—reads more as stylistic restlessness than formal sophistication, which makes it difficult to situate within any tradition worth defending.
The surreal compression works because of how the sound design isolates the protagonist's doubt; whatever choice Jahivre made in the mix to pitch his internal monologue against the hardware suggestions is what sells the madness in 120 seconds rather than letting it dissolve into joke.
