A post-apocalyptic musical tea party survival story should be insufferable—and yet Ragni makes the contradiction work by leaning fully into the absurdity instead of winking at it. This is the kind of premise that kills in the hands of a contrarian with actual conviction.
Ragni situates herself deliberately between the theatrical grotesque and the deadpan indie sensibility, and the formal choice to sustain a musical logic through 120 seconds of radioactive desolation shows real compositional discipline. The film knows exactly what tradition it's subverting and why.
The decision to let the protagonist's singing voice carry the emotional weight—to make vulnerability the survival strategy rather than combat or cunning—transforms what could've been novelty into something genuinely affecting on a two-minute budget.
