Everyone expects animation + sex ed to be either clinical or cutesy; Malépart-Traversy splits the difference and somehow lands on something genuinely subversive—tender and funny without a trace of the earnestness that usually kills these premises.
The film's formal restraint—animation as a vehicle for intimacy rather than spectacle—places it in conversation with the best of personal documentary hybrids, where technique becomes an act of care and specificity.
The decision to animate rather than document what could've been exploitative actually costs more creatively, and that choice—using the form as permission to be vulnerable without exposure—is what transforms a premise into an experience.
