The scouts

It's a competent kitchen-sink drama about brotherly duty, which is fine, but there's nothing here that makes me sit up in my chair—no narrative trap, no formal provocation, just a well-meaning story about a kid learning to fry eggs while his mom sleeps.

Felix

Madsen works in a lineage of Scandinavian social realism that prizes restraint and behavioral observation; the film's commitment to quotidian detail and its refusal of melodrama place it squarely in that tradition, even if it doesn't quite add new language to it.

Margot

The entire film hinges on one sustained shot of the younger brother's face as he realizes the weight his older sibling carries, and that single moment of recognition—held just long enough—transforms what could've been an afterschool special into something genuinely affecting.
