Portrait artist Kristine Diven wanders the deteriorating factories and abandoned buildings of Detroit, searching out pools of natural light in which to photograph herself nude. The film frames the fragile human body against the city's decay.

The scouts
Most people would've made this about Detroit's death spiral or the nude form as protest; Midgley just... lets light be light, and somehow that refusal to perform meaning is the most subversive move in the room.
There's a lineage here—the artist-document tradition, the body-and-space inquiry of structural film—but Midgley resists the didacticism those forms usually demand, instead sitting patiently with observation and restraint.
The decision to shoot observationally rather than confessionally—to let Diven hunt for light instead of explain why—transforms what could've been a concept into something tactile and genuinely vulnerable.
