On the Cantabria coast, fishermen's wives wait at port and also sustain families as the main pillar during paternal absence. Work includes boat maintenance as net-menders, market fish sales and long walks to sell in villages.

The scouts
Everyone wants to celebrate the invisible labor of fishermen's wives, but Solano refuses the easy uplift—there's no triumphalism here, just the weight of waiting and mending, which is almost transgressive in how unsentimental it stays.
Solano positions this within a lineage of feminist documentary that traces back to Ivens and Akerman—the formal patience of the camera, the rhythm of repetitive labor as metaphor, the way silence becomes a compositional tool—this is rigorously situated work.
The decision to let the women's hands do most of the storytelling, lingering on net-mending and fish-scaling without explanatory voice-over, transforms what could be sociological into something intimate and tactile.
