On a rainy night, two girls hear piano notes vibrating from the apartment above theirs. One of them goes upstairs to find the source of the melody and faces a series of paranormal events.

The scouts
It's a ghost-story-through-a-keyhole premise, competent but safe — the paranormal mechanics feel dutiful rather than genuinely unhinged, and I kept waiting for it to break its own rules in some weird, necessary way.
Amelio-Ortiz crafts a formally assured descent into dread, with the stairwell acting as a classical threshold between worlds; the restraint in visual effects keeps it tethered to a lineage of psychological horror that values suggestion over spectacle.
The sound design—that piano motif fragmenting and distorting as she climbs—does more work than the budget should allow, transforming a locked-door mystery into something genuinely disorienting through pure audio architecture.
