My Breakfast With Barf
2023 · 10m · USA
Directed by Peter Javidpour
Genres: animation, comedy, satire
Tones: absurdist, darkly comic
Leonard, an intellectual with an egg-shaped head, reconnects with Barf, an uncouth creature obsessed with hot chicks and making money. A parody of My Dinner with Andre that doubles as a sneer at the life of the artist.

Parodying My Dinner with Andre is the kind of cinephile crime I endorse. An egg-headed intellectual versus a horndog creature, mocap and all — finally somebody desecrating the right sacred cow.
Mocap CG aimed at the 1981 art-house touchstone — My Dinner with Andre via Adult Swim is a fine gag, but parody-shorts have a low ceiling and the cleverness has to carry.
Mocap-assisted CG animation pointed at My Dinner with Andre — that's a real conceptual swing with the mismatch between source and medium doing work. Adult Swim sensibility intact.
