The scouts
A premise that genuinely makes you pause—body horror as a tool for diagnosing male pathology, framed through the absurdist logic of magic glasses—it's the kind of subversive satirical swing that makes most festival programmers nervous and that's exactly why it works.
Rautsi situates this firmly in the lineage of feminist horror-satire (think Bite, Prevenge), but the formal constraint of the glasses conceit occasionally undermines the film's own visual argument about visibility and exposure.
The decision to literalize the reveal through body transformation rather than dialogue or performance—to let the horror do the feminist work—is economical and unsettling in precisely the way an 18-minute short needs to be.
Reviews
A wildly original horror satire about toxic masculinity and the male gaze — with body horror, social commentary, and one unforgettable pair of sunglasses. From Finland, with guts.
