Marta returns to her mother's house to spend a few days with her little sister, whose strange behaviour and the memory of a sad event make her suspect an unsettling presence inhabits the house.

A haunted-house premise that's been done to death, but Romero leans so hard into domestic ennui and family dread that it almost becomes something else—the ghost is just window dressing for the real horror of being trapped with people you love and don't understand.
The film's restraint and formal precision—how it withholds exposition, how the camera stays observational rather than manipulative—places it in conversation with a particular lineage of Spanish horror that privileges psychological unease over spectacle.
The singular choice here is the sister's performance: Romero lets her occupy the uncanny valley between authentic strangeness and suspected possession so completely that we (and Marta) can never quite land on what's really happening, and that ambiguity does all the work a bigger budget couldn't buy.
