The scouts
The premise reads like every other creature-in-the-dark survival slog, but Morgan's refusal to ever fully reveal what's hunting him—letting dread live in suggestion rather than spectacle—is genuinely perverse in the best way.
A formally precise exercise in negative space and sound design that recalls the contemplative horror lineage of Tarkovsky and early folk-horror cinema; the restraint here is the film's most rigorous formal commitment.
The entire film hinges on a single decision—to keep the creatures almost entirely off-screen, letting shadow and ambient sound do the psychological work—and it's the kind of constraint that transforms a 9-minute budget into something genuinely unsettling.
Reviews
I wanted this to be a simple, visual horror poem about being paralyzed by your own thoughts. I thought this was a great horror short, and I hope you enjoy it!
