Finally, a slasher that knows the genre is fundamentally ridiculous and leans into the contradiction—watching woke discourse collide with an unkillable killer is exactly the kind of premise that makes everyone else nervous and Felix vindicated.
OverKill sits uneasily between satire and sincere horror, and while the tonal ambition is admirable, the film never quite settles into a formal language precise enough to justify the conceptual risk it's taking.
The breakthrough here is the edit rhythm in the chase sequences—Montilla cuts against the expected percussion of the score, creating this deliberately unsettling syncopation that transforms the killer's inevitability from threat into cosmic joke.
