The scouts

A patchwork bear fighting its own shadow should be disposable kids' stuff, but these three directors flip the power dynamic—the nightmare *wins* by understanding the bear's logic better than the bear does. It's a subversion of every 'light conquers darkness' story that actually earns its darkness.

Felix

The formal restraint here is glacial: a single protagonist, a single room, a single metaphor pursued to its crushing conclusion. There's a lineage from Jungian shadow work through stop-motion horror, and *Parches* knows exactly where it sits in that tradition—spare, composed, devastating.

Margot

The sound design decision to let the light switches become the film's primary sound vocabulary—not the bear, not the nightmare, just the mechanical click of powerlessness—is the whole film in microcosm, and it's what takes this from a solid concept to something that actually haunts you.
