Hangout comedies are usually a director patting their friends on the back for ninety minutes. At short length, with three directors splitting blame, it becomes a delivery system for jokes instead of an exercise in vanity.
Sketch-comedy bacchanal premise with three co-directors leans hard on the bit; Superbad-as-Tim-Robinson is fun but doesn't feel like a formal proposition I need to chase.
Three co-directors and a board-game-night-to-bacchanal arc keyed off a clerical pizza error — Chloe Cherry in the cast suggests they're aiming for committed weirdness. Sketch comedies live or die on the second act.
